For The Accused...
Prague, 1940
I
remember
when
I was dragged through the streets
and
faces
familiar
ones
jeered
and spit on me.
A
voice
belted
above the crowd,
"You
ugly Jew, You should not live!"
Then
feet
hands
delivered
blows of intolerance.
An
aching body
broken
hands
the
shattered nose
My
face!
(once
pretty)
I
lost everything that day
my
teeth
my
youth
my
love of country.
